Hololens arrives at Thornton Science Park

One of the first Microsoft Hololens to reach the UK arrived at Thornton Science Park last week. This innovative headset is a cordless, self-contained Windows 10 computer. It uses a high-definition stereoscopic 3D optical head-mounted display to support augmented reality applications, with interaction through gaze, voice, and hand gestures

The Medical Graphics group have been hard at work evaluating the device and experimenting with application development. We are porting our Virtual Dissection Tool to work in AR.

A video clip of an early protptype is also available on YouTube.

We are very grateful to Medaphor Ltd for the loan of the Hololens and looking forward to when the device starts shipping to the UK later this year.
